Glass ‘fruit bowl’ with strawberries

Fruit bowls by name and nature.

A take on the fused glass lattice-work style bowls, these use individually-formed leaves and fruit which are then “fused” together in the flame to form the finished piece. The result is a glass bowl where each component retains its texture, giving an extra dimension and allowing me to add more detail. I free-form the bowls, working from the edge to create a loose-structured shape that reflects its natural subject.

This glass ‘fruit bowl’ / dish is approximately 17cm diameter, 4cm high.

As with all my work, these glass dishes are flameworked by hand using a gas-fired torch. They are individually worked and shaped, meaning that each one is slightly different and unique. I don’t use a lathe or machines to form my work – just my hands to guide the glass.
