Dinner at the Forest Side

Dinner at the Forest Side, a place setting

The Forest Side is an hotel and restaurant in Grasmere, close to us which prides itself on its local connections and use of local ingredients, both grown and wild. This place setting uses my textured glassware and forest inspiration but, extending the ethos of the restaurant slightly, imagines the forest brought more completely into the dining experience, from the plate to the glasses. The entire setting including micro herbs (grown in the greenhouse – cress and beet, both easily grown even with our shortened season) and marran egg, is glass.

As with all my work, these glass dishes are flameworked by hand using a gas-fired torch. They are individually worked and shaped, meaning that each one is slightly different and unique.
